Foundation Scholarships (S.E.A.L.)

OCCC Serve, Earn and Learn (S.E.A.L.) Scholarships

The OCCC Serve, Earn and Learn Scholarship Program offers OCCC students financial assistance in exchange for service to OCCC. The scholarships will provide on-campus educational service assignments for selected students. The assignment will be vary from seven to four hours per week for nine weeks per term (excluding the first week of the term and finals week). It's worth the time to apply!

Winter Term 2016

Students may request a specific assignment; however, the final assignment will be based on an interview and selection process by the designated mentor. The assignment is specified below. Preference may be indicated by a 1 or 2 in front of the position assignment. Examples of S.E.A.L. scholarships are listed below. 

Current Openings:

IT Assistant:

Student will learn what is required to support the College’s IT department relevant to its environment and infrastructure.  They will Investigate, research, learn, and implement support procedures, providing accurate and complete support for known issues.  They will escalate new or unknown issues appropriately, providing accurate and respectful timelines to clients.  They will document solutions and create support documentation for clients.  Student will be expected to maintain a professional work station and exhibit strong customer service skills at all times.  Other IT-related duties may include website operations, hardware/software installation, network troubleshooting with documentation, and equipment cleaning and repair.  Student must be willing to follow directions and ask for clarification if directions are unclear. 

College Store Assistant:

Student will learn the requirements of operations for The College Store.  This may include cashiering 
operations, food preparation, order fulfillment and inventory management processes for food, gifts, 
clothing and books.  Student will generally work under the direction of a primary employee; however, 
should also be able to work independently.  Selected applicant will be required to secure a food 
handlers card, this can be done online and College will cover the costs.  Prior customer service skills, 
cashiering experience and knowledge of general computer operations are a plus.  Applicant may be 
subject to a criminal background check.

The hourly wage is $9.50 x 6 hours weekly for 26 weeks. (Some exceptions to hours apply depending on positions.)
